Mader's Band in Fine Shape but the Leader Still Aiming Higher

"How's the Band getting along now, Mr. C. F. Mader?"

"I can truthfully say that I am immensely pleased with the progress so far. The boys right from the very word go took hold of the work with all their might, and the swiftness of their progress has been a surprise to me - it is certainly away above the average."

"How many members have you now in the Band that you can count on?"

"Twelve, though my intention is to increase the number to fourteen. The following persons now constitute the Band: Myself, solo cornet; Frank Lyons, first B flat cornet; L. Christman, second B flat cornet; Al Whissler, piccolo; Al Tudor, solo alto; Lew Korst, first alto; Lew Fuchs, first B flat trombone; George Higley, second B flat trombone; Adam Krick, baritone; Fred C. Mader, E flat tuba; Geo. Carroll, snare-drum; Oliver Klausburg, bass-drum."

"The boys, though already pretty well advanced, have not lost their enthusiasm, but are still buckling down to business in first-class style. We have two regular practice-meetings each week, and the boys may be counted on to be there every time unless prevented by something serious."

"I spoke to you a little while ago about my intention of making two additions to the Band. They are to be clarinet players. When these members are secured I will then have as many as I want and I will then shy my castor unto the ring and hustle to bring the Band to as high a state of perfection as possible. My hope is, and I do not think it an unreasonable one, judging from the progress the boys have been making - to produce in the near future as good an amateur band as can be found within a radius of many miles."

And we believe that Mr. Mader will make good his word, he being well known both as a musician and as a hustler.
