ALLISON BROWN

Allison Brown, 81 of Bainbridge, died April 9, 1940 at Chillicothe Hospital. Born in Ross Co., June 7, 1858, s/o James and Katherine Hurst Brown. He married Nancy Lister on June 12, 1879. Surviving are 2 daughters: Mrs. Madge Dempster of Denver, CO, and Mrs. Henry Simeral of Chillicothe; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Satchell of Clarksburg; 3 brothers: Charles and Thomas Brown [see below] of Clarksburg, and Joseph Brown of Chillicothe; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial at Brown's Chapel.

CATHERINE BROWN

Mrs. James Brown, Sr. (Catherine Hurst), died at eight o'clock this morning, at her husband's home in Clarksburg, after an illness with a complication of troubles that had extended over a long period of years. She was about sixty years of age, and was a well-known and beloved woman. Her husband and seven children survive her. The funeral will take place tomorrow from the M. E. Church at Clarksburg, the exact hour not having as yet been set. Interment will be at Brown's Chapel.

JAMES BROWN

James McDowell Brown, 89, died June 6, 1997, at his home in Huntsville, Ala. He was born in 1907 in Lyndon and was a graduate of Buckskin High School, class of 1925. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Morgan, Frances Storts and Betty Barlett; and one brother, Norman Brown. He is survived by his wife, Irene Lewis Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Pat Richardson; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

JOSEPH BROWN

Joseph L. Brown, Jr., 29, of Chillicothe, died 5:45 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2004, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus. He was born December 24, 1974, in Chillicothe. He attended Unioto High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, sports, and agriculture. He was a former member of 4-H and the Civil Air Patrol. Surviving are his son, Michael Brown; daughter, Taylor Brown; father and step-mother, Joseph L. (Teresa) Brown; mother, Mindy Jo Brown and Dennis Brooks, all of Chillicothe; brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy (Tiffany) Brown, of Brunswick, ME; brothers, Clinton Brown and Jeremy Brooks; sister, Nicole Brown, all of Chillicothe; paternal grandparents, D. Paul (Virginia) Brown, Chillicothe; maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Rodgers, Chillicothe; maternal grandfather, Thomas (Norma Jean) Berger, Londonderry; a niece, Madison Brown; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Scioto Valley Youth League Baseball, c/o Steve Dawes, 191 E. Water St., Chillicothe.

RACHEL BROWN

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Lavina Brown, age 92, who died Tuesday Jan. 8 [1946] at the home of her daughter Mrs. Sherman O. Kreischer, 46 West Park street, will be held Friday at the Westerville Methodist church. Red. Donald W. Cryer will be assisted in the service by Rev. R. E. Simester. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service. Friends may call at the Kreischer home until 10 a.m.Friday. Interment will be in Waverly, by K. R. Fichner Funeral Home. A native of Pike County, Mrs. Brown made her home here in Westerville for 11 years. Her husband died 11 years ago. Mrs. Brown is survived by another daughter, Miss E. Rose Brown; three sons, Elmer Brown of Chillicothe, Albert Brown and Frankfort and Leonard Brown of Columbus, 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
[NB: This was my husband's great-grandmother. She was born Oct. 5, 1853. Her husband was Joseph Archer Brown. One mistake in the obit: the son, Elmer Brown, was from Clines Chapel Road, Pike Co.]

Susie Anna Gertrude Brown

Susie Anna Gertrude Brown, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lotus Brown of Chillicothe, was born 4-22-1913, at Chillicothe, and departed this life 7-11-1913, 2 months 20 days. All medical aid, care and nourishment that loving hands could do was used to save her but to no avail. She leaves father, mother, 2 brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

She was a tiny Rosebud.
Her life on earth was short
But God has called her home
To fill a vacant spot.

THOMAS BROWN

Thomas W. Brown, 87, died August 13th, 1940. Born August 16, 1853 in Illinois, s/o James and Katherine Hurst Brown. He married Lucy Maddux on December 28, 1876. Children: Job who died in infancy, Mrs. William Miner, Mrs. Edward Davis, Mrs. Oscar Burlile, Mrs. Clyde Thomas, Clinton Brown of Frankfort. Brothers: James Brown of Chillicothe and Charles Brown of Clarksburg. Sister: Mrs. Sarah Satchell. Burial in Brown's Chapel Cemetery.

WYLODINE BROWN

Wylodine Gale (Harper) Brown, age 81, passed away Mother's Day, May 9, 2004, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, in Chillicothe, OH. She was born September 20, 1922, in Jackson, OH, to the late Grover Cleveland Harper and Ethel Eva Scott. She devoted her life to her family and was a friend to all who knew her quiet kindness. Family genealogy and history were a lifelong interest. She is survived by a very special identical twin sister, Maxine D. Harper. Having lived in the Chillicothe area over 60 years, she most recently resided at Traditions of Chillicothe with her sister. Also surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Glendon W. (Marilyn) Brown, of Escanaba, MI, and Stephen A. (Linda) Brown of Chillicothe, OH; five grandchildren, Seth, Ian, Ryan, Laura and Kristin Brown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William A. Brown, whom she married September 5, 1943; a brother, Lamar Harper; and a sister, Lucille Sherwood. Wylodine was a graduate of Coalton High School Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13 at Haller Funeral Home, with Rev. James W. Grove officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Traditions of Chillicothe Foundation, 142 University Drive, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
