HENRY FORAKER
Henry Samuel Foraker, son of Jacob and Christina Foraker, was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1842, and passed to his reward on the afternoon of April 22, 1925, aged 82 years 3 months and 28 days. Practically all of his life has been spent in the vicinity where his genial nature and kindly deeds had endeared him to old and young alike and in a his death the community has lost a good citizen, kind neighbor and genial companion, one whose happy dispostion made him welcome in any circle. In early life he became identified with the M.E. Church and he was a regular attendant at the means of grace until failing heath and especially loss of hearing rendered him unfit to enjoy the services. On December 1st, 1864, he was united in marriage to Lydia Ann Cooper of Dover, Delaware, and to this union six children was born, two of whose, Maggie and Thedocia; together with the devoted wife, have preceded him to the better world. Eliza Gertrude, of Washington C. H., Joseph of Cincinnati, Oliver of Cynthiana and John of Rainsboro are left to mourn his loss, besides 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. After death of his wife which occured on February 5, 1908, the old house was broken up and for four years he lived with his son Oliver at the old Foraker homestead and then retired from his active farm life; and then he went to Rainsboro to live with his son John, where he lived for the last twelve years. About 2 months ago he went to Washington C. H. to live with his daughter Gertrude, and was planning to come back home today (Sunday), little thinking his lifeless form would make the journey to which he was looking forward. On last Thursday afternoon he accompanied his granddaughter, Mrs. Florence Garrett, to Columbus and was delighted with the trip. Oter returning he complained of being tired and laid down to rest and at most immediately "the silver cord was loosen" and his spirit took it flight. "Oh-call it not death-it is life begun / For the waters are passed, the home is won / The ransoned spirit has reached the shore / Where they weep and suffer and sin no more."
