BESSIE LANCASTER

Ill 14 years, Mrs. Bessie Lowe Lancaster, 46, a former local resident, died of tuberculosis at 6 p. m., Tuesday in the Athens state hospital. She was born in Ross County on Jan. 24, 1903, to Henry J. and Mary Oiler Lowe, and was the widow of William Herbert Lancaster. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Moss; two sons, Delvin and Cecil Lancaster, and three brothers, Jerry, John, and Arthur Lowe, all of Chillicothe; and two sisters, Mrs. William Scott and Mrs. Pearl Whitcomb, Rt. 7. Service will be held at 2 p. m. Friday from the North high Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, the Rev. marion Mc-Kee officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home after 6 p. m. Thursday.

CECIL LANCASTER

Cecil Vernon Lancaster, 55, of 814 Madison Ave. died 12:25 p. m. May 20, 1988, in Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 14, 1931 in Chillicothe to William Herbert and Bessie Lowe Lancaster. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Joan Lancaster; two nieces, Deborah Butcher and Lisa Lancaster; a nephew, Delvin Lancaster Jr.; and cousins with whom he was raised, Dallas Hunt, Helen Proehl, Judith Cassady and Willard Hunt, all of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Moss, and a brother, Delvin L. Lancaster. Funeral services will be 2p. m. Wednesday in the Haller Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Gillette officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call athe the funeral home 5-8 p. m. today.

CONNIE [LANCASTER] MINNEY

 


DANNY LANCASTER

Ill three days, Danny [Leroy] Lancaster, 15-day-old son of Delvin and Joan Pollitt Lancaster, 254 E. 6th St, died at 4:15 a. m. Sunday in the Chillicothe Hospital. Surviving in addition to the parents, are a sister, Deborah, the maternal grandfather, Melvin Pollitt, of Rt. 5, and the paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Lancaster, of this city. Graveside rites were held at 2 p. m. Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery, with burial by the Ware Funeral Home.

DELVIN LANCASTER

Delvin LeeRoy Lancaster, 57, of 3526 US 23 South, died 5:33 p. m. March 22, 1986, in Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness of several months. He was born Aug. 10, 1928, to William Herbert and Bessie Lowe Lancaster. On Nov. 4, 1949, he married Joan Pollitt who survives. Also surviving are children: Mrs. Allen (Deborah ) Butcher, Massieville Rd., and Lisa and Delvin L. Lancaster Jr., both at home; two grandchildren, Pamela and Bruce Butcher; sisters, Mrs. Robert (Helen ) Proehl, Mrs. Ralph ( Judy) Cassady; and brothers, Vernon Lancaster and Dallas and Willard Hunt, all of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his foster parents Roy and Martha Hunt; two infant daughters, two infant sons; and a sister, Edna Moss. Mr. Lancaster was a retired employee at the Chillciothe Veterans Administration Medical Center. Funeral service will be 1 p. m. Wednesday at the Ware Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Ware's 5-8 p. m. Tuesday.

EDNA [LANCASTER] MOSS

 


JOAN LANCASTER

Joan Lancaster, 69, of 3526 US Rt 23, died 4:39 p. m. Thurs. May 31, 2001, in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Melvin H. and Bertha Moorhead Pollitt. She was married Nov. 4, 1949, to Delvin L. Lancaster, who died Mar. 22, 1986. Surviving are daughters and sons in law; Deborah and Allen Butcher, Lisa and Kevin McComis, all of Chillicothe, a son, Delvin L. Lancaster Jr. at home, four grandchildren, Pamela and Bruce Butcher, and Lindsay and Joshua McComis, four great-grandchildren, Bruce II, Dane, Matthew, and Alissa Butcher; nieces, nephews, and many friends and loved ones. She was predeceased by four children, Marlene, Darlene, Danny, and Melvin; a sister Betty J. Malone; an infant sister and a infant brother. Joan attended the Mt. Tabor Community Christian Church. Funeral Service will be held 1 p. m. Mon. June 4, 2001 in the Ware Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Garman officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call 6-8 p. m. Sunday.

RETTA LANCASTER

Retta A[rnetta]. Lancaster, 75, fomerly of West 8th St., died 9:20 a. m. in Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Vinton County to George and Elizabeth McWhorter Seymour. She was married August 12, 1941, to Harold J. Lancaster, who died May 18, 1980. Surviving are daughter and son in law, Linda and Clarence E. Gaines; son and daughter in law James E. Lancaster and Judi Lancaster, Chillicothe, eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a sister, Goldie Ward, McArthur, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son, Donald Eugene Lancaster, two brothers and a sister. Mrs. Lancaster had retired in 1979 from the 20th Century Bowling Alley. Funeral services will be 10:30 a. m. Monday in the Ware Funeral Home, with Pastor Harlan Alspach officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p. m. Sunday.

WILLARD LANCASTER

Willard E[lmer]. Lancaster, 54, of 77 N. Hickory St., died at 6:55 p. m. Saturdaay in Medical Center Hospital after an illness of four months. He retired from the Mead Corp. in 1970 with more than 30 years of service. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday at the Ware Funeral Home. The Rev. Willis Chaney wil be officiating and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 p. m. today. Born Aug. 3, 1924, in Chillicothe, he was the son of Charles A. and Sarah J. Lemasters Lancaster. On April 3, 1944, he married to the former Betty Sheets who survives. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Franklin (Jane) Sickels, Mrs. Harvey (Connie) Minney, Mrs. Stephen (Kathy) Compher, Brenda and Trudy at home; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Bobo, Mrs. Goldie Lowe, and Mrs. Martha Hunt, and a brother, Harold J. Lancaster, all of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. Mr. Lancaster was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Christian Union.

WILLIAM LANCASTER

William Herbert Lancaster, 254 E. 6th St., passed away Wednesday evening with complications following a three week illness. The deceased was born July 23, 1903 in Wetzel Co. WV, the son of Charles Albert and Sarah Jane Lemasters Lancaster, and was married Apr. 6, 1926, to Bessie Lowe. The deceased is a member of the High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, and is survived by his parents, his wife, and three children, Edna Pauline, Delvin LeeRoy, and Cecil Vernon Lancaster; two brothers, Harold J. Lancaster and Willard E. Lancaster of this city, and four sisters, Mrs. Fletcher Sheets, Mrs. Jerry Lowe, Martha and Mabel Lancaster, all of this city. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. from the Christian Union Church with Rev. S. Mc Kiboen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
