JAMES MASON

DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND IN A BARN - JAMES MASON -- The body of James Mason, an old colored resident of Frankfort, was found lying in a stall in a barn in the rear of his home. The discovery was made Thursday morning by Abraham Stookey, who was attracted to the barn by the unpleasant odor. The last seen of Mason prior to the time of the discovery of his body in the barn was Monday morning. It is supposed that he entered the barn Monday evening to sleep for the night in the hay loft, as he was accustomed to do. As he was known to be afflicted with heart trouble, it is thought that he was attached with a spell of this when entering the barn and that he died shortly afterwards. Mason was 65 years of age and had made his home in Frankfort for a number of years. He had been twice married, but at the time of his death he was not living with either of his wives, who are both living.

EDWARD PRATT
ELIZA PRATT

Died in Chillicothe, January 3rd, after a shorn and almost painless illness of one week, Edward Pell Pratt, in his 73rd year; and on the 19th, Eliza Warren Pratt, in her 63rd year, after a long sad painful sickness. They were lovely and pleasant in their lives as husband and wife, and in death they were not long divided. Both were most highly valued communicants of St. Paul's Parish, sad is their death this much afflicted parish has lost another couple of its old members. Most of which have now passed away and left their their seats in church (unreadable word); for few new familes come into the old metropolis. Mr. P. died a Vestryman of the parish and a liberal supporter of the church, a most upright man and humble Christian. Mrs. P. died full of faith and joy, a warm and sealess follower of Christ. Mr. P. was the well known old Jeweller of Chillicothe-- (unreadable word) to time as his clocks and watches, and all ready to depart and be with Christ, when the Master's order had come. Mrs. P. was often to exclaim, "Why are His chariot wheels so long in coming," but not impatiently. They are gone from us, but their memory is a rich legacy. Mr. P. was born in Montpeiler, Vermont, and came to Chillicothe nearly (unreadable word) years ago, bringing with him a good name, which he only made better. Mrs. P. was born in Charleston, Mass., and was related to General Warren, of Beaker Hill (unreadable word). She came to Chillicothe about the same time, and was first married to Shales Ives. She was then married to Mr. P., then a widower with (unreadable 3 words) Mrs. Porter, of Covington, Ky.--By Rev. J.B. Britton, December 18, 1845--and he (unreadable 2 words) both to the grave, which had no victory over them [unreadable ending].
